33. Christian BLESSING was born on 29 Nov 1765 in Derry Church, Dauphin Co. Pa.. He died about 1845 in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pa.. He was a farmer/laborer. He has descendant number 1-9. Sponsors at baptism were Anthony Corbin and wife.

In 1790 Christian was willed L10 from his school teacher Adam Barger of Londonderry Twp. Dauphin Co. Pa. (Lebanon County since 1813 -- Adam Barger was the brother of Christian's wife Catherine Barger.)

Barger and Berger crosses with the Blessing family several times. The surname spelling used most frequently is BARGER so I will use this spelling throughout.

Deeds Christian Blessing and Katrina his wife of Derry Twp. to Adam Barger of Lewistown, Mifflin County sum 25 pounds for tract of land in Mahontango Valley on North side of Mahantango Mt. within one mile of Mahantango Creeks's south. 300 acres more or less. Rec. June 7 1800 Signed with their marks.

From all indications, Christian was a farmer most of his life. However in the 1794 he was a militiaman and in 1799 he was listed in the tax assessment as a laborer.

Christian Blessing was called by the Second Regiment, Seventh Company of the Dauphin County Brigade of Militia, of which he was a member, in 1794 to serve in the "Whiskey Rebellion" however when President Washington ordered Federal troops into Pennsylvania, no military action ever developed.

The 1810 census lists: 2 boys under 10 (John born 1803 and Michael born 1800):
2 boys 11 to 16 (Christian born 1797 and Frederick born 1793):
1 boy 17 to 26 (Anton born 1784)

In the Census for 1840 Christian is shown as living with his son Christian and was 75 years old.

He was married to Catherine Magdalena BARGER (daughter of Charles BARGER and ELIZABETH). Christian BLESSING and Catherine Magdalena BARGER had the following children:

80 viii. Madlena BLESSING was born on 5 Oct 1800 in Pa.. He died on 12 Aug 1802 in Pa.. He has descendant number 1-9-8.
81 ix. John BLESSING was born about 1803 in Pa.. He died in Pa.. He has descendant number 1-9-9.
82 x. Catherine BLESSING was born on 12 Jan 1805 in Campbelltown, Lebanon County, Pa.. She died on 9 Aug 1869. She has descendant number 1-9-10. Catherine never married.
83 xi. Barbara BLESSING was born on 4 Jul 1807. She has descendant number 1-9-11.
84 xii. Anna BLESSING was born on 15 Sep 1812. She has descendant number 1-9-12.
