77. Christian BLESSING
(photo) was born on 18 Jan 1797 in Derry Township,
Dauphin County, Pa.. He died on 21 Feb 1850 in Derry Township, Dauphin County,
Pa.. He has descendant number 1-9-5. He was a cooper. He was buried in Sandhill
Cemetery, Hummelstown RD1, Pa.. Christian died fairly young. In 1819, his
wife, Sallie, joined the Luthern Church and was confirmed by the Rev. German.
Christian and Sallie were married on Oct. 26, 1820 by the Rev. Fenhope in Heidelberg
Twp., Lebanon Co., Penna. They lived near Campbellstown, Pa. until 1829. They
then moved to Middletown Road, Derry Township Dauphin Co. Penna. Middletown
Rd. is also known as Sandhill Road, Hummelstown Rd1, Pa. Christian's property
was located a few hundred yards southeast of where Rouch Rd. intersects with
Middletown Road (Sandhill Road). This property was later purchased by Christian's
son Absalom who as a stone mason, built a new house on this property
for Christian and Sallie in 1846. (see picture) Christian was one of the few
Blessings of his generation that stayed in the Derry Twp. area area.

grandson of Christian, in 1983.
Sixteen years after the death of Christian, on December 20, 1866, Sallie transferred
her church membership from Sandhill Lutheran Church to the Lutheran Church in
Harrisburg, Pa. She went to live with her son Christian F. Blessing. at 422
Reilly Street, Harrisburg, Pa. When Christian F. Blessing died abt. 1876 he
willed his house to his brother John M. Blessing with the provision that he would
continue to care for their mother. Christian F. had no children. The house at
422 Reilly Street, Harrisburg, Pa., maintained Blessing owners and residents
for quite a few years. At the time of her death in 1881, Sallie's widowed daughter,
Mrs. Martin (Phoebe), and her son John M. Blessing were living with her. Ten
of her fourteen children were still living, five sons and five daughters. There
were thirty-three grand children and thirty-seven great grand children.
He was married to Sarah (Sallie) SNOKE on 26 Oct 1820.
Sarah (Sallie) SNOKE was born about 1804 in Heidleberg Twp., Penna..
She died on 13 Mar 1881 in Hummelstown Rd1, Penna.. She was buried in Sandhill
Cemetery, Hummelstown RD1, Pa.. Christian BLESSING and Sarah (Sallie) SNOKE

Elizabeth (Isabella) BLESSING was born on 5 Oct 1828 in Derry Township,
Dauphin County, Pa.. She has descendant number 1-9-5-6. The 1850 census taken
in September 1850 lists Elizabeth as 20 years
old. The school tuition notice of 1839 lists daughter to Christian as
Isabella (believed to be Elizabeth) born Oct 5, 1828. This would
make her 21 in September 1850.
