79. Michael BLESSING
was born on 21 Jan 1800 in Campbelltown, Lebanon County, Pa.. He died about
1856 in Tiskilwa, Illinois. He has descendant number 1-9-7. He was a farmer.
He was buried in Tiskilwa Cemetery, Bureau Co., Illinois. In the 1850 census
Michael was still living in Derry Twp. Dauphin Co. Pennsylvania with 7 of his
children. His son John had already gone to Tiskilwa, Illinois in 1849. See
John's biography for detail of their migration West and their settlement of Tiskilwa,
Illinois.
Between 1850 and 1855 Michael followed his son John to Tiskilwa. Of the 12 children
of Michael and Mary Blessing, 8 went west either with their brother in 1849 or
a little later with their parents. Four of the children, Jacob born 1822, Mary
Ann born 1825, Sara (Sally) born 1831, and Leah born 1834 remained in the Dauphin
Co., Pa. area
for the remainder of their lives.
Sally's family is well documented in the "Nye Family Tree by Max B. and
Evelyn Tunnicliffe." This book is in the Library of Congress Catalog Card
Number:71-151431 and explains the migration of Blessing's and Ney's to Illinois,
Missouri, Iowa, Kansas etc.
He was married to Mary (Molly) BUFFENMOYER about
1819 in Dauphin County, Pa.. Mary (Molly) BUFFENMOYER
was born about 1799. Michael BLESSING and Mary (Molly) BUFFENMOYER had the
