133. Catherine Ann BLESSING
was born on 8 Mar 1827 in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pa.. She died
on 30 Oct 1898 in Pioneer Twp., Iowa. She has descendant number 1-9-4-5. She
was buried in Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon , Iowa. Catherine Ann Blessing Keller
was traveling with her mother, father, and husband, Joseph Keller, on their way
to Iowa, on the "Belle of the West", when it burned and sank. Her
husband, Joseph, drowned during this event. Family legend says there were twins
born to this marriage in c. 1847. (no record of this to date)
Catherine Ann Blessing Keller's marriage to Simon Kohl produced eight children.
All descendants of Catherine and her sisters Barbara Blessing Funk, Elizabeth
Blessing Kohl, and Mary Blessing Hoover produced approximately 230 known descendants.
There are two booklets in circulation, one by descendants of Mary Blessing Hoover
and one by descendants of Elizabeth Blessing Kohl. These booklets are quite thorough
and contain many pictures of the above families.
She was married to John KELLER about 1845. John KELLER died on 23 Apr 1850 in Ohio River.
She was married to Simon D. KOHL (son of Simon KOHL
and Magdalena WEIDMAN) on 27 May 1851 in Linn Co. Iowa.
Simon D. KOHL was born on 3 Jul 1827 in Berks County, Pa.. He died
on 31 Dec 1912 in Linn Co. Iowa. Catherine Ann BLESSING and Simon D. KOHL had
