Dear Sister,

You must excuse my delay in writing you. But I was not a bit good since I came till today. The trip (to Missouri) nearly done me up. I had no trouble in getting out. Two soldiers boys took care of me to St. Louis and then the Y.W.C.A. helped me to what I wanted. Everyone was so pleasant as could be. Today I am very good and I believe I will keep on improving. It is a very nice place here and I like it very much and I am so glad I am with Edna so she can wait on me.

I wish you were out here. We have all the peas we can eat, new potatoes, lettuce and onions. I wish you could see the gardens they have three of them. The largest is a little over an acre. The water here is so good too. There is a spring aside of the house about four by five feet, and the water never gets stale no matter how long it stands in the house. The first Sunday I was here my dinner was sent in. My breakfast was sent in yesterday morning, squirrel. The lady who sent it comes to see me almost everyday. Edna and Charles went to town this afternoon and it takes a good half day. We are seven miles from town over the roughest road. Edna is looking so well, it does her good to be down here I think. Esther just came back from Kansas City a couple of weeks ago, she was up there a month. If John telephones you tell him I am getting along as well as I can expect too. Well I must close for this time. We all send our love to all.

Your loving sister

Phebe
